The development of novel, efficient, and economically viable protocols for synthesizing attractive heterocyclic scaffolds are the ultimate goal for a synthetic organic chemist [1]. In a relevant context, benzotriazole exhibiting benign environmental and interesting chemical characteristics has been widely applied as a synthetic auxiliary for many chemical processes, including multistep preparations of drugs and biologically active compounds. Benzotriazole is used in industry as fixing agents in photographic emulsions, as anti-tarnish agents for copper and its alloys, as a corrosion inhibitor, and in antifreeze and water coolant systems [2].
